All About Mrs. Miller-
I am originally from northern Indiana. I attended Indiana University in Bloomington where I received my Bachelor’s of Science in Elementary Education with a concentration in reading. After finishing my degree, I was a teacher in Indianapolis, Indiana. I taught 2nd and 3rd grade as well as English as a New Language. I attended Anderson University and received my Master's in Curriculum and Instruction and obtained my ENL endorsement as well.
I have also had the opportunity to be an adjunct instructor at Marian University in Indianapolis. There I taught a course about English as a New Language laws and best practices, parental involvement, diversity, and culture. The course was for adults who were in the Teach for America, Indianapolis Teaching Fellows, and a Transition to Teaching program.
I moved to Chicago and I am fortunate to now be a part of the wonderful St. Viator staff. Here I work with all grade levels with Junior Great Books. It is a great program and I love to work with a variety of grade levels. I also push into Kindergarten classrooms during their reading stations. I work with every group throughout the week doing differentiated reading/foundational skills stations. Another aspect of my position is making sure all students with special learning needs get the accommodations and instruction that they need in order to be successful.
Reading is one of my favorite things to do. I love to discuss books that I have read, or am reading and I love getting new recommendations!
